It's all about the brain

Research is showing more and more that our brains physically change in response to what we experience, and in response to what we think.   Follow this link to our new blog, for an article on: "Our Marvelous Brains".

Healing during widowhood

One of the life's biggest challenges is facing the death of a spouse.   The support of family and friends is crucial.  To have someone to talk to who has been through the same thing ... well, it really is priceless.  Guest writer Michele Neff Hernandez tells how reaching out to a newly widowed stranger brought her a new-found friend to share tears and laughter.  Check out her story, and details about a talk she'll be giving in Simi Valley on March 8.

Is it Alzheimer's?

So many of us are worried about our parents, wondering if they are showing more than just the normal signs of aging.  Some of us are worried that our own "senior moments" may be a sign of something worse.  Take a look at a recent post from our new blog for an article about Alzheimer's and dementia.

Take a deep breath, and count to 10

In almost every issue of our newsletter, it seems that I include a way to "de-stress".  I know I need as many tools as I can find, and I like to share them with our readers.

In an article entitled, "Calming Down", Dr. David Stang shares some very practical tools to help manage stress.  You'll need a PDF reader to view it, and for some reason his name didn't print on the article, so the file is now titled with his name to ensure that credit is properly given.  It's full of great ideas.

Be on the look-out for more stress tools

In upcoming issues of the newsletter and blog, I'll be publishing more information on using self-hypnosis and deep relaxation techniques to help cope with stress.  It's a great way to teach our bodies to relax, and with practice it becomes very effective.
